Life in the Right Direction

Self-Care - Spirituality - Wellness - Science

Two simple things you can start today!

Two simple things you can start today!

If you want to try and improve your life, all of the advice available can be very daunting and confusing. If you’re in that mode, and don’t know what to do to get started, then I’d suggest these two things.

Two simple things - eat organic1) Eat organic

If you found a local organic supermarket, and decided to buy all of your food as organic, that would be a huge step. You would be reducing the toxic load on your body tremendously. There’s lots of advice on what you should or shouldn’t eat but, as a first step;

Eat anything you like as long as it’s organic.

You can still eat foods that aren’t really great for your body, but at least you won’t be dumping a bunch of artificial toxins into your body and wondering why it’s not functioning so well.  In the post, What can we learn from a tomato plant?, we considered whether it would make sense to spread toxic waste around the base of a tomato plant and then expect it to produce good tomatoes? Of course that wouldn’t work. So why would it work with our bodies?

We can’t keep putting toxins in our bodies and expect good health and fitness to somehow miraculously emerge.

2) Only positive thoughts

I can’t stress how important this is. Any negative thought we have is going to decrease our overall health.

One way to look at this is from the clinical point of view. For example;

  • listen to Bruce Lipton in this interview talk about the power of the mind and the nocebo effect
  • read about the power of negative thoughts in Lissa Rankin’s book
  • read about the need to have positive thoughts in the book All is Well by Louise Hay and Mona Lisa Schulz
  • listen to what Gregg Braden has to say in this interview
  • see what I wrote in the post What are the bad things in life to be avoided?
  • you can even read reports published in popular newspapers, like this one

two simple things - no negative thougthsBut I think it’s really quite a simple thing. We all want to progress in our lives and be happy. Negative thoughts hold us back and actually begin to make a negative reality for us.

If our negative thought is “but I’m fat” then what are the chances that we’ll get fat, stay fat and get fatter. Pretty much 100%.

No matter how much you try, that little demon, that little voice saying “but I’m fat!” will end up sabotaging any effort we make to lose weight. In the post Appreciating your subconscious mind – and working with it I discussed how this can be thought of as a fight between the conscious and subconscious minds and how procedures like EFT can be helpful to overcome it.

Can this be just as simple as converting negative thoughts to positive ones? Yes!

Visualising it and feeling it!

It’s amazing how many people say they “visualised” what they wanted and that this step was important to getting it. For example, someone who was overweight started to visualise themselves in the thinner, fitter form they desired and then, one day, they had that form. And they say it’s exactly the form they visualised. That’s interesting when they say “exactly” the form they visualised.

They say that it’s not just visualising, but also a matter of “feeling” the way they’d feel when they will have it.

two simple things - think positiveThis is close to the Law of Attraction and the words of Gregg Braden in this interview. But there is a potentially even easier explanation;

Visualising and feeling what you want absolutely eliminates any negative thoughts.

Could it be as simple as this? In some way, negative thoughts are like toxins for the body in much the same way as MSG and artificial colorings are. With negative thoughts polluting the body, we can’t expect health and vibrancy.

However, visualizing and really “feeling” the positive outcomes ensures that our bodies have healthy environments in which to grow.

The two simple things for today

Simply eat organic and stay positive. Really positive. Turn any negative thought into a positive. Visualise what you want and feel it, as often as you can remember every day. Don’t worry about any slip ups you might make, just make small steps in the right direction as often as you can, improve your diet a little, improve your mind a little and keep going. As you progress it will get easier and easier. It’s just like trying to make the soil around that tomato plant healthier. It’ll take some time, but as things improve the health of the plant will start making big steps forward.

In these circumstances, I really like this quote;

Even if you stumble, you’re still moving forward.
– origin unknown

So, start stumbling today. It’ll get easier and easier as the toxins start to release from your body. As this happens, you might feel like making bigger steps, but the two simple things mentioned here could be the most important steps for reorienting your life.
